As 2025 winds down, I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off this blog than by rounding up some of our absolute favourites and sharing them with you. Choosing these was no easy task. Ontario and Canada are packed with stunning places, memorable experiences, and hidden corners, and every time we thought we had the list finalized, another waterfall, café, or dreamy stay came to mind.
That’s really the heart of why this blog exists. We’ve explored countless towns, trails, markets, parks, and cozy hideaways, and our hope is to share as many of these beautiful spots as we can. We want to inspire you to get outside, wander somewhere new, support local, and experience the magic right here in our own backyard.
But for now, here it is. A collection of the places that truly stood out this year, the ones that made us stop, smile, and say “okay, this is special.” These are the spots that shaped our 2025 adventures, and I hope they spark a little excitement for your next getaway too.
Most Magical Waterfall – Rock Glen Falls (Arkona, ON)

We first visited Rock Glen Falls last winter, and it immediately took our breath away. Seeing the falls frozen over with icy formations created a serene, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Walking along the trails and peering over the gorge, it felt like stepping into a completely different world.
When summer arrived, we returned while visiting Grand Bend and were just as captivated. The gorge, limestone cliffs, and surrounding Carolinian forest make it a nature lover’s dream. You can even walk down to the base of the falls, which gives you a whole new perspective and makes the experience feel immersive. Paired with a stop at one of our favourite nearby cideries (Twin Pine Orchard and Cider House), it became the perfect little afternoon adventure.
Another highlight is spotting Devonian-era fossils along the creek beds. It’s such a cool way to connect with the area’s history while exploring the natural beauty. The falls are tucked away enough that it feels like a special discovery, yet there are plenty of lookout points and trails to make your visit feel full and varied.
Location: 8680 Rock Glen Road, Arkona, Ontario
Why we love it: Stunning year-round, multiple lookout points, accessible trails, and the perfect combination of nature, history, and adventure.
Favourite Boardwalk Trail – Mike Schultz Wetland Preserve (Baden, ON)

Mike Schultz Wetland Preserve is one of those spots we always find ourselves returning to. Even though we’re not avid bird watchers, we somehow always end up spending hours noticing the birds, small wildlife, and just enjoying the calm, peaceful surroundings.
The boardwalk trail winds through a quiet, scenic wetland just outside Baden. It’s flat and easy to walk, making it accessible for almost anyone, and at just over two kilometres, it’s long enough for a satisfying stroll but short enough to pair perfectly with an afternoon in nearby New Hamburg. Hidden behind a residential street, the trail feels wonderfully tucked away, with spots to pause, breathe, and take in the scenery along the way.
We love coming here when we want a simple escape that still feels special. Whether wandering alone, enjoying a quiet moment, or pairing it with a quick stop in town, it’s one of those little places that makes you appreciate how peaceful and beautiful Ontario can be.
Location: 28 Smith's Creek Dr, New Hamburg
Why we love it: Peaceful, scenic, accessible, full of wildlife, and close to charming nearby towns.
Most Magical Historic Gem – St. Raphael’s Ruins (South Glengarry, ON)

St. Raphael’s Ruins is one of those historic spots that truly stops you in your tracks. On regular trips toward Ottawa, we always keep an eye out for hidden gems along the way, and this site had been on our list for a long time. Right before the end of the year, we finally visited and were genuinely wowed.
What makes the ruins special isn’t just the history, but the feeling you get while there. The church was built over 200 years ago and played a major role in the community. After the fire in 1970, the stone walls remained, somehow making the site even more beautiful. Visiting in winter, with snow covering the ground, felt like stepping back in time.
Location: 20000 County Road 18, Williamstown, Ontario
Why we love it: Atmospheric, photogenic, rich in history, and one of Ontario’s unforgettable hidden gems.
Cutest Christmas Town – Niagara-on-the-Lake (Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON)
Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of our favourite winter stops, and it feels truly magical during the holidays. From twinkling lights to beautifully decorated shop windows, the town looks like a real-life Christmas card.
Horse-drawn carriages add a historic charm, and the streets are lined with shops offering unique gifts and handcrafted items. You can easily spend an afternoon wandering, stopping for a hot drink, and browsing boutique stores.
Cozy inns and hotels make weekend getaways easy, and restaurants offer everything from casual comfort food to fine dining. While enchanting year-round, the town shines brightest during the holiday season, though the Christmas store is open all year if you need a festive boost anytime.

Its location is ideal, just a short drive to Blue Mountain and nearby small towns like Thornbury and Meaford.
On site, the Apres Snack Bar is a highlight, with delicious cocktails, oysters, pizzas, and charcuterie. You don’t need to stay overnight to enjoy it, as it is open to the public and perfect for an evening stop or to take advantage of their happy hour specials.

The Trading Post Cabin is a must-stop whenever we’re heading home from Muskoka. Their seasonal drinks are outstanding, and the lunch menu is packed with some of the best sandwiches and pizzas we’ve tried.

The patio in summer is shaded and cozy with blankets, while inside, the cabin atmosphere feels warm and inviting. There’s even a small shop featuring local artisans, which makes browsing a joy. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a coffee or linger for a leisurely lunch.

Why we love it: Seasonal drinks, standout lunch menu, cozy cabin vibe, and a welcoming spot year-round.
Cutest Pumpkin Farm – Fall Harvest Farm (ON)
Fall Harvest Farm has become one of our favourite annual traditions. We’ve been visiting every fall for the past four years, and each visit feels special in its own way. What started as a simple outing has grown into a seasonal ritual we look forward to with so much excitement.
The farm still feels like a hidden gem. Every year, they choose a fun theme and decorate the entire property with pumpkins, props, and playful touches that bring the theme to life. We’ve seen everything from Stranger Things to The Muppets, and wandering through the farm feels like stepping into a storybook version of fall.
Beyond the decorations, the variety of pumpkins and squash is incredible. It’s the kind of place where you end up carrying more home than you planned, and you’ll be inspired to cook with what you bring. There’s also a small market and countless photo-worthy corners, making it perfect for a cozy morning stroll or capturing seasonal memories.

Boardwalks, caves, lookouts, and easy walking trails make it a wonderfully varied place to explore, and every visit brings something new to notice, from the sound of the water and the views from above to the little details tucked along the paths.
One of the highlights is the suspension bridge over the waterfall. Standing there, looking down at the cascading water, is absolutely breathtaking and easily one of the most photogenic spots in the area. Combined with the historic stone fountain and peaceful boardwalk sections, it makes the walk feel both varied and special.
There are three easy trails throughout the conservation area, which makes it a perfect little escape to add to an afternoon outing. The paths follow the West Credit River, giving you calm, scenic views throughout. One of our favourite ways to finish a visit is to pair it with a coffee at the nearby The Belfountain Café, making it a picture-perfect afternoon.
It’s important to note that Belfountain is a seasonal destination and is closed in the winter. It also gets busy on weekends, so reservations are recommended to make the most of your visit.

Why we love it: Boardwalks, caves, a suspension bridge over a waterfall, easy trails, and endless photo opportunities all in one beautiful spot.
Favourite Spooky Season Stop – Fear Farm (Bright, ON)

Fear Farm features seven different haunted attractions, each with its own vibe and level of spookiness. Some are intense and eerie, while others lean into playful scares, but all are incredibly well done. Long Point Eco‑Adventures first caught our attention during a visit to the Marshview Patio & Bar, where we tried one of the yummiest dill pickle grilled cheeses we’ve ever had. While we were there, we discovered it is also an incredible year-round glamping resort, and it quickly became one of our favourite escapes.
The resort offers accommodations for every season. In the winter, the heated pods keep you cozy, and in the warmer months, the tents are spacious, many with private bathrooms, showers, and their own fire pits. Sitting by the fire under the stars or enjoying a quiet morning in nature makes it feel like a true getaway.
There is so much to do on site that it’s easy to spend an entire weekend without leaving. Best Beach Day – Pioneer Park (Bayfield, ON)

Our first visit to Pioneer Park was on a little day trip into Bayfield, and we were honestly blown away by how beautiful the beach was. It was still too cold to swim, but even then, walking along the shoreline and taking in the views made it clear this was a place we needed to come back to.
That chance came later in the season when we had planned a beach day in Grand Bend. After seeing how busy it was, we immediately thought of Pioneer Park and decided to make the drive instead. Returning on a warmer day reminded us exactly why we fell in love with it in the first place. Nestled near the small town of Bayfield, it has a relaxed, tucked-away charm that makes it feel like a true escape.
The beach itself is calm and scenic, with water that glistens on sunny days and a gentle shoreline that’s perfect for a stroll. It may not be the sandiest beach around, but the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful lake views make it feel like a hidden paradise. Favourite Farm Bakery – Maple Grove (Dufferin County, ON)
The first time we visited Maple Grove, it was almost by accident. We were driving past without it really being on our radar, but something about the place made us turn the car around. That spontaneous stop quickly turned into one of our favourite discoveries, and now every time we head toward Blue Mountain, stopping here feels like a must.
The bakery is what keeps pulling us back. The display is always full of freshly baked goods, and everything looks just as good as it tastes. Their donuts are unforgettable, along with buttery scones and a rotating selection of baked treats that change with the seasons. It is the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with a box that is much fuller than planned.
The farm itself is warm and welcoming, with events hosted throughout the year that give each visit a slightly different feel. It is close to so many great destinations, which makes it an easy and worthwhile stop whether you are heading out for a day trip or starting a longer getaway.

Looking Back and Looking Forward
Looking back, these favourites weren’t just places we visited, they were moments that stayed with us. From spontaneous stops to trips we planned around a single café, trail, or view, each one became part of our story this year. They’re the kinds of places that quietly stay in your mind long after you’ve left.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s to leave a little space in your day. Arrive without rushing, take the long way when you can, and let the small moments shape the experience. Those are often the ones that stay with you the longest.
